Emotional Intelligence may be far more helpful than the current ICF Core Coaching Competencies.

Here are the 8 ICF Core Competencies:

  • Demonstrates Ethical Practice
  • Embodies a Coaching Mindset
  • Establishes and Maintains Agreements
  • Cultivates Trust & Safety
  • Maintains Presence
  • Listens Actively
  • Evokes Awareness
  • Facilitates Client Growth

Can these “competencies” be measured or used in research?

In contrast, Emotional Intelligence provides a step by step program based on pre and post assessments for increasing the four core EQ skills: self-awareness, social awareness, self-control and relationship management.
Most of the research in emotional intelligence is a result of studies that rely on tests or measurement on either the EQ-i-, or MSCETT, an abilities-based measurement.
I am certified as an Emotional Intelligence Practitioner with training in the use of the 360 degree assessment as well as the leadership and workplace EQ-i as a pre and post assessment for each coaching client.
In addition’ I am the author of The Practice Of Control that is used as a client workbook for executive coaching clients.
